Katherine gets great news at the eye doctor this week!

So we went back to the eye doctor friday. It has been two months since Katherine's surgery. Prior to the surgery she was wearing an eye patch to help strengthen her weaker eye. Once the surgery was over she was told she would still have to wear the eye patch. She was so sad she crawled into a ball in the chair and wouldn't look at her dr. It was so sad. So we came of with an incentive chart to get through the 8 weeks till the next check up. It has been a struggle most days...but she did it! And on Friday we got the wonderful news!
No more eye patch! Her eyes are aligned perfectly and her right eye tested the strongest it ever has for vision. Katherine just about burst when her dr. said no more eye patch. She was so happy. I had tears in my eyes! Hooray! And her glasses are too strong. She no longer needs bifocals. She has a stigmatism so she will need glasses for that. But that is all!
New glasss with one lens! That we can handle. Here is our pretty princess Katherine!
The reward she chose was baby bunk beds and a high chair. She is going to be helping Daddy build and paint them. At the Dr. she leans over to me and said "Mommy since I did such a great job maybe I should get a new baby to go with my bunk beds and high chair." Miss Smartie! Today Oma told her she could pick out a baby as her reward from her. When Matt got home from work, Katherine came running down stairs and said "Daddy, my wish came true. Oma said I could get a baby too! Isn't that wonderful?"
How cute! Thank you, Oma.

We will post pictures of the new glasses when they come.
Strike a pose!
We are so thankful that the surgery was a success! And that her eyes continue to get stronger!
Thank you for all your prayers! We are so blessed!

Potty trained and a Big Boy Bed! In the same week!!

Wesley is potty trained!! It is exciting and a bit sad to say Good-bye to diapers! My baby boy is growing up. Of course we still have an accident here or there as we are in week two of undies only. But he is doing great! Big Boy!

Tuesday we moved Wesley out of the crib and into the toddler bed.
He was so excited and so proud!

Diving in to his new bed!

Here he is holding his stickers from day care for going potty in one hand and the beloved "nukie" in the other hand. The will be the next step. But after talking to the Dr. I am not as worried about the nuk. We'll get it.....eventually!

He is doing so great staying in bed. The first night he slept all night...but was up at 5 ready to roll. I woke up to eyeballs right in mine. Then he skipped out of the room and into the recliner. I stumbled out of bed to follow. He looked up and said "Crackers and Juice please Mommy...and a movie." When I said down next to him. He looked up at me and said "Mommy, I had a great nap. Did you?" Such a sweet boy!

Best Buddies!

Katherine and Wesley have so much fun playing together! House is their new favorite game. It is so great to sit and listen to all of their little conversations as they play. They also love playing puzzles, sword fight, wrestling, and dress-up. Although we have gotten Wes "boy" dress-up clothes (pirate, fire fighter, spiderman, tiger...etc). He still likes Sissy's dresses and high heels. Thought Uncle Jon would really love the following pics!
Even in a dress...boys will be boys!
Best Buddies....in matching jammies.
Also the same size!!

Our sledding adventure!

Finally we had a warm two weekends ago to get out and enjoy the snow one final time before the big meltdown. It is all pretty much mud now! This is a view from the top of the hill across from us on the state land. We found it to be the safest hill for the kids as our other spot had alot of trees and sharp turns. Here they go by themselves! Wheeeee!
Now the race to the top! Will they make it??!!?

Wes leaves Sissy in the dust with the sled.

We may have to call in for back-up. Doesn't look like she's moving too fast!
Would rather lay and eat snow!

Well everyone made it back to the top to enjoy several more runs together!

It has been a fun winter...but we are ready for the sun and warmth!

Wesley dresses himself!

Wesley and Katherine were upstairs playing house the other day. Wes comes down to ask for help with his tie. He picked out his outfit and told us he was going on a "date". Look out ladies!
Too cute!

Just get the FLU SHOT!

After a week of being flat on my face, begging Matt to just shot me...I need to strongly advise that everyone get their flu shot! Oh my word...the flu is way worse. Today is the first day since Monday that I feel somewhat human. I am so blessed to have a husband who was able to be home and care for me and the kids. GET YOUR FLU SHOT....I will never miss mine again!

We are back! Sorry for the delay in new pics!

Due to bad internet connections and lack of computer, the blog has seriously been neglected. But I am happy to report that we are back and running!
In case you don't recognize them...these really are the kids!! ha ha They are getting so big!
Katherine is in preschool and can now write her whole name! Her teachers are so impressed as her name is so long. She is a letter writing machine! She loves to staple together paper to make notebooks and then write letters. The other day she had rows of letters and in one of the rows she had written DORKO. I said "Katherine, you just wrote Dorko." She laughed so hard. It is so cute!
Wesley shadows Katherine at preschool as well as does his own class. He knows his ABC's, when his birthday is ("October 3" he says.), what letter his name starts with, as well as sings an incredibly cute version of "somewhere over the rainbow". He loves playing Barbies and house with his sissy. They are the best of buddies. But will not turn down the chance for a good wrestling match whether you want to or not. He loves to be tickled till he can't hardly breathe. Then he pauses and says "Do it again!" Currently he is most looking forward to becoming a hockey player at the age of 4. And loves to inform everyone that he is going to kindergarten next year. That could be a struggle when it doesn't happen. He will be the first 2 yr old enrolled!

"Look at my big muscles!" That is what he is saying when I took this picture!

Big girl Katherine! She now showers all by herself. She can wash her hair and everything. When she finished this time she asked me to wrap her hair like I do. She was so proud. She is getting so big.
Katherine's eye surgery was a great success. Her eyes seem to be completely aligned now. She is still wearing the eye patch to strengthen the weak eye. And HATES IT! The novelty of the patch has worn off and now it is a big struggle. We go back in 3 weeks and they will check again as well as if she still needs to wear glasses for a couple more years. Right now she overfocuses but with her glasses her eyes focus correctly. So we will see what happens in March.

If the hair gets much longer he will look just like a former member of Big Fat Jam!
I just can't cut the curls!

Pretty Katherine! She has decided to grow her bangs out. From the bald baby to look at all this hair! Straight just like Mommy!

Overall we are all doing great. Matt is busy keeping up with the snow and working as well as little projects around the house all the time. I love my new job. It was six months yesterday. This job has been an amazing blessing. I really love what I am doing and the time with family! Am I still busy?? Yes, but I think that is just my nature. Dance team will be done this week and that will allow for more sleep in the morning and less running.
All is well in Idaho!

The nose dive

Here is a picture of the result of the nose dive I blogged about last. This is a couple days into recovery. Thankfully nothing was broken. Just scrapped up! He is so tough. When I would put medicine on his little eyes would water because it hurt so bad. But he would just take a deep breath and say "it really hurts Mom...oh it really hurts." But no tears. Such a tough baby! Tougher than Mommy!!

Snow snow SNOW

So these pictures were actually taken right around Christmas time. But after

the last two days it is crazy to say this...but we actually have more snow that this AGAIN! It had all melted. But last night when I got home from work this was the view once again. Here is our Schreiner sign and the view down our driveway. SPRING....where are you???!!!

Spiderman!

Wesley is in love with Spiderman! Here he is in his outfit from Christmas. Although when Wes becomes spiderman it is a bit more violent. We checked the video out from the library so he could see that spiderman is actually a good guy! He loves to attack Katherine when he is spiderman. In or out of costume we are all getting wbs shot at us on a regular basis. He is without a doubt ALL BOY! Don't let the curls fool you!

Christmas 2010

The princess and the princes! The kids had a wonderful time playing together on Christmas Day. Looking at this picture I can't believe how big all of them are getting. Cody was pulling Katherine around on Heather's horse as the cape flowed behind. Wes chose jammies for the entire day! I love it!

Stocking stuffers!!
I remember when the stockings where bigger than the kids!

Katherine and Wesley with "new" barbie Alan sent from Grandma Sue. Wesley is very attached to Alan. Both Grandma and I played with him when we were little. It was so fun to play with all of my old barbie clothes. Oh the memories!

A challenging day...Thank you Lord for being there!

So I know that I have not blogged for a really long time. Sorry to disappoint but there will not be any pictures with this one. Soon...I promise!
Today has introduced me to the joys and challenges of being a mother and how God gives us just what we need at the right time....yet still life can be so scary sometimes.
So what happened.....well first off it is good to know that I have come down with my first major cold of the year. Yes, it is safe to say that I have been pretty out of it this weekend...sick! I didn't even know what day it was on Sunday....sorry mom! Thought it was Saturday for most of the morning. Anyway so the plan for today was to take the kids to daycare and come home and sleep. Hoping to get over the cold and back to work Tues. So I pulled up to daycare. Looking pretty rough I may add. I unbuckled the kids like I always do and then got out to open their door and let them out. As I opened the back door and am saying "be careful it is really ic....." Wesley comes flying out of the car head first and lands on his face on the parking lot. The image makes me cry over and over. I couldn't even believe it. I swooped him up and said "Katherine follow me" We ran into the daycare. He was crying (thankfully not passed out) and blood from his nose. He scuffed his forehead some but landed pretty much on his nose. Thankfully we think the nuk saved his mouth some. I stayed till he was calm. Left every number I have. Got in my car. Drove around the block...crying and went back in to get him and Katherine. Went to the dr. Everything looks fine. No concussion but we are to watch him for the next four days. Then I spent the day snuggling with my two sweet angels. Now that is the best medicine a mommy ever needs! I am feeling much better! His little nose is swallow and all scraped up. I am amazed that he is not hurt more. I am amazed at how tough he is. When I clean it up and put medicine on it his little eyes water cuz it hurts so much. But he is so brave. He just says "It hurts so bad, Mommy." And toughs it out. Wesley is so amazing. Katherine is so amazing. Last week I just watched her go through eye surgery. Have both eyes cut and muscles adjusted. The next day she was ready for a dance party and jumping off the couch. And here I have been on the couch for two days with a head cold. Children are amazing. I am so blessed with two amazing children. They teach me and remind me of the simple things in life. Keep it simple! Live life to the fullest ! How in the world am I gonna make it through sports and the teen years! Lord I need you!!
