RinkRat19 Hockey Camp with Gigi Marvin

Wesley had an amazing time at hockey camp this week!
He worked so hard and learned so much.
He truly loves to play hockey.
One of the days, he was named "hardest worker" and got a new mouth guard.
When he came off the ice he was beaming and his friends were talking about it with him.
Then he leaned over to his friend, Casey (in the pic above) and said, "Casey, you were working super hard too.  You should have gotten one also!"
That a boy, Wes!!
One proud Mama!!

Wesley surely loves his water frozen!!

Wesley with his pal, Gigi Marvin!
How many kids can get to have the opportunity to hang out with an Olympian on a regular basis?
This summer Wesley and Katherine have been able to spend time visiting with Gigi while eating lunch.  It worked out that she was usually getting done with her workout when we were eating before swimming.  So she would stop and chat for a bit.
We are truly blessed to have been able to spend time with this incredible woman!
She is pure gold in our book!
The other day Wesley asked her if she would like to babysit him ever!
And the next day, invited her to his birthday party!
Pretty awesome!!
We will miss our chats, but hope to see you soon!
We feel pretty blessed to have gotten to hang out with you this summer!!

What is Wesley's secret to success?
This is what he told me when he came off the ice the first day....
"Mom, with my full gear on and my head in the game I was ready to go out there!  Just had to have my head in the game and be out there with the other players who had their head in the game.  Then I was ready to skate.  Just gotta keep my head in the game and work hard!"
(He probably actually said "head in the game" 15 times while telling me the story.)
So cute!

This game after the day before he had went out on the ice only in his skates and was a little unsure.  He gave me a lecture that I wasn't getting him to the rink enough to practice.  I had to remind him that it was July and the middle of summer.....when people usually aren't out skating on the ice!!  But instead swimming in the pool.  He said, "but I need to be on the ice, Mom."  Too funny!

Coach Katherine...watching Wesley's every move and making sure he was always doing what he was supposed to be doing.  And of course, if he wasn't...she was yelling at him from the sidelines.  So cute!
Katherine was over talking to Gigi one day at camp, and then came home and announced, "She was playing hockey next year, because Gigi said she needed her on the ice!"
So we may have another hockey player in the house.
We shall see!

Thank you to all the coaches of RinkRat 19!
You truly are an inspiration to all!
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication!
